Non-Woven Abrasives
Non Woven
A Non-Woven is an abrasive product in the sense that there is an abrasive grain attached to a substrate via a binder resin.
A 3 Dimensional web of thin nylon fibers acts as the substrate the abrasive grain is embedded in and attached to. This
differs from a traditional coated abrasive where the abrasive grain is attached to the 2 Dimensional flat surface of a paper
or cloth backing.

With Klingspor Non-woven materials, operators will see consistent results whether the application involves
cleaning, blending, deburring, or finishing. Between the toughest and the most delicate applications and
finishes, Klingspor Non-wovens are designed with the highest quality and your needs in mind.
Applications for Klingspor Non-woven Abrasives
Cleaning / Surface Prep
Blending
This is the initial step to begin the surface preparation for a finished product. Klingspor Non-woven materials will accomplish surface prep tasks
like rust removal, paint removal, and overall
enhancement of scratch patterns.
Creating uniform finishes, blending makes different surface qualities more equal leaving them
burr-free and smooth.
Deburring
Finishing / Polishing Preparation
Deburring involves removing the imperfections
of shar/rough edges. Stamping processes leave
metal burrs behind that require removal as a
prominent process.
Improving the overall finish and preparing the
surface for further enhancement is typically the
final step with non-woven materials. Klingspor
non-woven materials offer repeatable, consistent
finishes in most applications.

What is a Non-woven Abrasive?
A Non-woven abrasive is a product that is made out of
a nylon fiber with grain embedded into the fibers and
held together by a sprayed resin. The grains and fibers
are bound together to form an open 3-dimentional web.
This design makes the material “spring-like” allowing
it to conform to surfaces leaving a more even finish.
This differs from a traditional coated abrasive in that
a traditional coated abrasive is a 2 dimensional where
the grain simply sits on top of a flat surface. Non-woven abrasives in all forms, belts, discs, hand pads, and
wheels offer consistency throughout meaning abrasive
grains are continually exposed during work assuring
surface uniformity.
