Do not skip more than 1 grit in your sanding process.
Each grit is supposed to erase the scratch pattern
of the previous grit and replace it by a smaller one.
If you skip more than one grit, you take the tips off
the peaks that the previous grit le on the surface
and leave behind the big scratches. This results in an
uneven surface.
